NNL to Honor Governor Alia and Lobi Stars in 2026

The Nigerian National League (NNL) is set to honor Rev. Fr.

Dr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia, the Governor of Benue State, during an award ceremony scheduled for March 30, 2026, in Abuja.

Alia has been recognized for his significant contributions to the development of football in Nigeria, particularly through his support for grassroots initiatives. Alongside Governor Alia, Lobi Stars, the football club he owns, will receive the Fair Play Award for the 2025-2026 Nigerian National League season.

Other honorees include Barrister Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, the Governor of Plateau State, and Hon. Sadiq Mamman Lago, a local government commissioner from Kaduna State.

The ceremony aims to celebrate outstanding players in the league and will gather key figures from Nigerian football administration, clubs, and enthusiasts, highlighting the NNL's commitment to football development in the country. Alia's nomination reflects Benue State's active role in shaping the football landscape and creating an enabling environment for infrastructural and financial development.
