NNPC and Chevron Nigeria Discover New Oil Well in Niger Delta

The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) has officially confirmed the successful discovery of a new oil well in the shallow offshore region of the western Niger Delta. The discovery was made in collaboration with Chevron Nigeria Limited at the Awodi 07 well.

The drilling operations, which commenced in late November 2025 and concluded in mid-December 2025, were conducted in strict compliance with approved operational and regulatory standards. The results of the Awodi 07 well confirm the substantial presence of hydrocarbons across multiple reservoir zones, marking a notable milestone for the joint venture between NNPC Ltd and Chevron Nigeria Limited.

Executives from both companies, including NNPC Ltd's Group Chief Executive Officer Bashir Ojulari and Chevron Nigeria Limited's Executive Vice President Upstream Udi Ntia, have expressed commendation for the successful outcome and highlighted the importance of disciplined exploration programs and strong partnerships in the oil and gas sector.
