NNPC Foundation Donates MRI Machine to Anambra Hospital

On Friday, the NNPC Foundation officially donated an MRI machine to a teaching hospital in Anambra State, Nigeria. The event was attended by various stakeholders, including government officials and healthcare professionals.

Bashir Ojulari, Group Chief Executive Officer of NNPC Ltd, described the project as a strategic investment in healthcare delivery, aiming to improve diagnostic capacity for millions of Nigerians. Emmanuella Arukw, Managing Director of NNPC Foundation, emphasized that the new MRI system would facilitate early disease detection and reduce the need for patients to travel long distances for specialized diagnostic services.

The installation includes essential infrastructure such as a radio frequency shield system and backup power supply, along with a one-year manufacturer's warranty and training for radiologists and technicians. Professor Joseph Ugboaja, Chief Medical Director at the teaching hospital, welcomed the donation, stating it aligns with the Nigerian government's healthcare reform agenda.

The initiative is expected to significantly enhance healthcare delivery in Anambra State and the wider southeastern region, addressing critical access gaps highlighted in the 2024 Nigeria Health Watch report.
