NNPC to Launch 70 Smart Self-Service Stations Nationwide

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Limited) announced plans to deploy between 50 and 70 smart, self-service filling stations across Nigeria within the next six months. This initiative aims to transform conventional retail outlets into modern energy and mobility hubs, offering petrol, electric vehicle charging, liquefied petroleum gas, and compressed natural gas.

Mumuni Dagazau, the Executive Vice President, Downstream, disclosed this during the commissioning of a technology-driven service station with an electric vehicle charging facility located along Bill Clinton Drive, Airport Road, Abuja. Dagazau emphasized that the new model would allow customers to dispense petrol themselves through a digital payment system, while attendants would still be present to assist.

He dismissed concerns regarding job losses, stating that the expanded services would require more workers and that the energy hubs would employ more people than traditional filling stations. The rollout of these smart stations is part of NNPC's broader strategy to enhance customer service and integrate various energy sources.
