NNPC to Launch 70 Smart Fuel Stations Nationwide

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) announced plans to establish between 50 and 70 smart self-service filling stations across Nigeria within the next six months. Dr Mumuni Dagazau, Executive Vice President, Downstream, disclosed this during the commissioning of NNPC Retail Ltd.’s smart mega fuelling station in Abuja.

This station, located along Bill Clinton Drive, is the first of several planned facilities, with additional stations set to open in Abuja and Kano. The new stations will serve as energy hubs, providing petrol, electric vehicle charging, gas dispensing, car washing, and vehicle servicing.

The Abuja station features a 180,000-litre storage capacity for Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) and 45,000 litres for Automotive Gas Oil (AGO), with 16 PMS pumps and two AGO dispensing pumps. Customers can use the NNPC Retail mobile application for self-service fuel dispensing, and personnel will still be available to assist customers.

Dagazau emphasized that the introduction of self-service facilities will not lead to job losses, as personnel will be needed for various support roles.
