NNPCL to Boost Crude Supply to Dangote Refinery by 2026

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has concluded plans to increase crude oil allocations to Dangote Petroleum Refinery, providing seven cargoes by May 2026, an increase from the previous five cargoes supplied monthly. This initiative is part of NNPCL's efforts to prioritize domestic crude supply to local refineries amid global supply disruptions.

Colman Obasi, President of the Oil and Gas Service Providers Association of Nigeria, stated that the seven cargoes will not meet the refinery's needs. David Bird, Chief Executive Officer of the refinery, revealed that the facility expects to receive between 13 to 15 crude cargoes monthly, while currently receiving only five.

He emphasized that the gap in supply limits the refinery's ability to fully meet domestic fuel demand. Bird also noted that the prevailing crude purchase prices represent a loss for Nigeria, and clarified that the crude naira policy is primarily designed to support Nigeria's economic stability rather than solely benefiting the refinery.
