NNPP Accuses Kano Government of Intimidation Tactics

The Kano State chapter of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) has accused the state government of intimidating its members, as stated in a release from the party's public secretary, Ibrahim Karay, on Saturday. Karay described the alleged actions as undemocratic and unwarranted, urging the state government to cease harassment and political persecution against party members.

He emphasized that every citizen has the constitutional right to belong to a political party of their choice. The NNPP claims that the government has begun targeting its members, citing the withdrawal of Hajj seats previously allocated to certain NNPP members, including a former commissioner.

Karay condemned this as unacceptable discrimination based on political differences. Additionally, he alleged that former government officials were pressured to return vehicles allocated during their tenure, which he described as a misuse of power.

He called on the Kano State government to uphold the rights and freedoms guaranteed by the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
