NDC Denies Attack Claims During Owerri Meeting

The Imo State chapter of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has refuted claims of an attack during a meeting in Owerri. Party spokesperson Ayozi Uchechukwu described the reports as gross misinformation and misleading.

He clarified that the NDC had not received formal notification or security clearance for the gathering, which was convened without the knowledge of key party leaders, including Emeka Ihuez, the Owerri Municipal Chairman, and Stanlei Igbo, the Owerri Zonal Chairman. Reginald Uwakw, the Imo State Chairman, also stated he was unaware of the meeting.

The NDC condemned any violent actions against individuals gathering peacefully and called for a thorough investigation by police and security agencies to hold perpetrators accountable. The party reiterated its commitment to peace, democracy, and human rights, urging members and the public to verify facts through official channels.
