Wike Dismisses Banditry Claims, Affirms Abuja's Security

Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, addressed concerns regarding banditry in Abuja, stating that there is no recurring banditry in the city. He emphasized that the city remains secure and that reports of banditry are exaggerated.

Wike spoke during an inspection of ongoing projects in the Federal Capital Territory, asserting that no city in the world can be entirely free of crime. He acknowledged the presence of criminal incidents but insisted that the security agencies are effectively tackling crime.

Wike praised the dedication of security agencies and called for public recognition of their efforts, urging the community to support ongoing security operations. Despite his reassurances, anxiety remains high among residents, particularly in satellite towns like Kungaboku, where there have been reports of kidnappings and threats from bandits.

The Nigerian Army and police are actively involved in security operations to address these threats.
