INEC Partners with Canada and IFES for Inclusive Voter Education

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), in partnership with the Government of Canada and the International Foundation for Electoral Systems (IFES), is intensifying efforts for inclusive voter education ahead of the 2027 General Election. A two-day National Inclusive Voter Education Training was held at the Exclusive Serene Hotel in Wuye, Abuja, focusing on practical strategies to reach citizens across diverse social, educational, geographical, and physical circumstances.
This initiative is part of INEC's broader strategy under Chairman Prof. Joash Ojo Amupitan, SAN, to ensure a free, fair, credible, transparent, and inclusive electoral process. Colton Bridges, First Secretary of Political Affairs at the High Commission of Canada in Nigeria, emphasized the importance of inclusive elections and urged participants to develop strategies that ensure voter education reaches marginalized groups, including those with disabilities, limited literacy, and those residing in remote areas.
The training was funded through Canada's Fund for Local Initiatives.
