JAMB Confirms No Extension for 2026 UTME Registration

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has declared that there will be no extension for the registration deadline for the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME). The registration will close at midnight on February 26, 2026.

Candidates who have already purchased their e-pins will have until February 28, 2026, to complete their registration. As of February 17, 2026, JAMB reported that 1.5 million candidates had successfully registered nationwide, although the board expressed concern over the number of eligible applicants who had not yet taken advantage of the registration opportunity.

JAMB noted that registration centers across the country are operating at only 30 percent of their daily capacity, with a goal of registering 100,000 candidates daily. The board emphasized that candidates should not delay their registration until the final day to avoid challenges and that appeals will not be entertained once the deadline has expired.

JAMB expects the 2026 UTME to attract millions of applicants seeking admission to tertiary institutions across Nigeria.
