PDP Confirms National Convention Will Proceed in Abuja

The Nyesom Wike-led faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has reaffirmed its commitment to holding the national convention as scheduled in Abuja, dismissing rumors of attempts to stop the event. Haruna Moham, the faction's spokesman, stated that the party's decision aligns with its constitution and emphasized the importance of due process and democratic ideals.

The statement comes in light of a recent appeal filed by Kabiru Tanimu Turaki's faction to the Supreme Court, following a lower court's decision that quashed a previous convention in Ibadan. Moham assured that the PDP remains a credible platform for national development and good governance, urging members to maintain discipline and unity.

He also noted that there are no known court orders that would impede the convention, which is set for March 29. The party's caretaker committee is working diligently to ensure a smooth and successful event, reinforcing its commitment to democratic values in Nigeria.
