Wike Faction Confirms PDP National Convention Will Proceed

The faction of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) led by Nyesom Wike has confirmed that the national convention scheduled for March 29-30, 2025, in Abuja will proceed as planned. This announcement comes despite a court order that purportedly seeks to halt the convention.

Mohammed, the party's national caretaker committee spokesman, stated that they are unaware of any court order preventing the convention and reaffirmed the party's commitment to due process. The convention is seen as a critical moment for the opposition party, which has been divided following a previous convention held in Ibadan.

The Wike faction is working to ensure that the upcoming convention is credible, transparent, and inclusive, reflecting the aspirations of party members nationwide. Meanwhile, the Turaki-led faction has filed an appeal against the judgment that nullified the Ibadan convention, indicating ongoing legal disputes within the party.
