PDP's Wike Faction Alarms Over Convention Disruption Plot

The Nyesom Wike-led faction within the People's Democratic Party (PDP) has expressed alarm over alleged plots to thwart the party's upcoming national convention through court injunctions. The National Caretaker Working Committee (NCWC), led by Abdulrahman Moham, has reaffirmed its commitment to the convention scheduled for November 29-30, 2026, at the National Stadium in Abuja.

The NCWC noted that the leadership crisis within the party has already been addressed by the Federal High Court and the Court of Appeal, which affirmed the legitimacy of the current leadership. The committee urged members and the general public to disregard misleading claims from rival factions.

Concerns were raised about a recent attempt by a group led by former Minister of Special Duties Kabiru Tanimu Turaki to obtain a court injunction in Ibadan to halt the convention. The NCWC described this as an abuse of the court process and emphasized the need to safeguard the integrity of the legal system while assuring members of a transparent and credible convention process.
