ADC Declares Electorate Will Choose Next Rivers Governor

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has stated that the decision regarding the next governor of Rivers State will rest solely with the electorate, rejecting the notion that any individual can dictate this outcome. Chukwudi Dimkpa, the ADC Chairman, highlighted the party's commitment to a democratic process in selecting its gubernatorial candidate for the upcoming elections.

This statement follows comments made by Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike, who suggested that support for candidates should align with political structures. Dimkpa clarified that the ADC aims to build a credible alternative political movement that reflects the interests of Rivers State residents.

He emphasized the importance of maintaining political balance and inclusivity in the leadership selection process. The ADC is focused on addressing key issues such as insecurity and economic development in the state, urging political actors to respect democratic principles and allow the electorate to make the final decision in the 2027 elections.
