Tinubu Rejects Negotiation with Terrorists, Announces Reforms

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu declared that his administration would not negotiate with terrorists or pay ransom for abducted victims during a meeting at the Presidential Villa Abuja with traditional rulers from Oyo state, led by Oba Rashidi Adewolu Akanmu Ladoja. He announced significant security reforms, including the establishment of state police with safeguards against abuse, and expanding the Nigerian military from eight to 12 divisions to enhance operational effectiveness against terrorism and banditry.

Tinubu highlighted the recent successful rescue of victims in Oriire local government area, where kidnappers demanded ransom and the release of their gang members, which the government rejected. He praised the armed forces for their dedication and the support of Nigerians in these operations.

The president reiterated the government's commitment to improving security architecture and operational strategies to address ongoing security challenges.
