NNPP Threatens Legal Action Against INEC and Tinubu Govt

The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) announced on Wednesday that it would pursue legal action against the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the Bola Tinubu government due to allegations of non-compliance with valid court judgments concerning the party's leadership structure. During a closed-door meeting at the party's secretariat in Abuja, NNPP Secretary General Mr.

Ogini Olaposi expressed concerns over INEC's failure to implement several court rulings, including those from the Abia State High Court and the FCT High Court. The judgments affirm Dr.

Boniface Aniebonam as the founder and chairman of the party's board of trustees, while Dr. Agbo Major is recognized as the chairman of the national working committee.

Despite court orders requiring INEC to update its records within 72 hours, the commission has not acted. Olaposi indicated that the NNPP is disturbed by INEC's disregard for court decisions and is considering further legal options to protect its electoral participation ahead of the 2027 general elections.
