NNPP to Hold Convention Amid INEC Recognition Delays

The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) is set to conduct its national convention despite ongoing delays in recognition from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). Dr. Agbo Major, leading the party's national working committee, stated that the party would proceed with its congress and primary elections, aiming to submit candidates for various positions, including the presidential election in 2027.

Dr. Boniface Aniebonam, the party's founder, highlighted the importance of complying with a court order that mandates INEC to recognize the party. He expressed frustration over INEC's failure to comply with the court ruling, which has hindered NNPP members from participating in elections nationwide.

Aniebonam referenced previous legal precedents to underscore the necessity of adherence to court rulings. The party is determined to continue pursuing recognition from INEC, emphasizing that they can no longer deny their members the opportunity to participate in the 2027 general elections.
