Labour Party Confirms No Boycott for 2027 Elections

Nenadi Usman, the interim national chairman of the Labour Party, stated in an interview that the party has no intention of boycotting the 2027 elections. This clarification came during an event in Abuja, where the party unveiled its registration portal.

Usman emphasized the need to focus on correcting the issues that undermined the party's performance in the 2023 elections. She noted the rise in political tension and the threat from the Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) regarding a potential boycott of the elections due to provisions in the recently enacted Electoral Act 2026 amendment.

Usman highlighted that the Labour Party will not adopt a bandwagon approach and will prioritize strengthening its grassroots presence and ensuring representation at every polling unit. She acknowledged significant challenges faced during the 2023 elections, including a lack of agents across polling units, and stressed the importance of proper documentation of electoral results to strengthen the party's legal position in case of disputes.
