LP and NLC Mobilize for 2027 Elections, Learn from 2023

The Labour Party (LP) and Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) are planning significant grassroots mobilization ahead of the 2027 general elections, as discussed in a strategic summit held in Abuja. The summit highlighted the need for effective membership registration and a robust organizational structure to prevent past electoral failures, particularly referencing the 2023 presidential election where the LP faced challenges in proving its vote count due to inadequate grassroots coordination.

LP's national chairman, Senator Nenadi Usman, stressed the importance of building a reliable membership database and deploying registered members as poll unit agents to safeguard votes. The party aims to learn from its experiences during the legal battles following the 2023 elections, where they struggled to substantiate claims regarding the electoral results.

Usman called for state chairmen and union leaders to collaborate on strategies for mass membership registration, emphasizing that no political structure can succeed without a solid foundation.
