No plan to work against Abia Govt’s remodelling of Ariaria Market – Traders

Traders at the Ariaria International Market in Aba have expressed their support for the Abia State government's plan to remodel the market. The chairman of the market, Hyacinth Nnabude, stated that there is no intention to work against the government's efforts.

He revealed that a tripartite committee, consisting of the state government, traders, and the developer Checkbest International Limited, has agreed on the current arrangement. Nnabude assured traders that while some may lose their shops during the remodelling process, they will retain the right of first refusal and be provided with alternative relocation options.

Another committee member, Stanley Meshach, encouraged traders to support the remodelling project, while developer Chiedozie Njoku guaranteed that affected traders would not lose their shops without being given the right of first refusal as per the agreement. This reassurance comes after previous administrations had stripped traders of their shops without proper compensation.
