Nigerian Police IG Denies Promotion Scandal, Emphasizes Transparency

The Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kayode Egbetokun dismissed reports of a promotion scandal within the Nigeria Police Force, stating that the recent promotions were conducted transparently and based on merit. Egbetokun addressed the issue at the Force Headquarters in Abuja during the decoration of 19 newly promoted senior officers.

He emphasized that promotions were carried out following due process and in adherence to established standards, with no room for nepotism or favoritism. The IGP congratulated the newly promoted officers and urged them to uphold ethical leadership in tackling modern security challenges.
