Alaafin of Oyo Denies Rift with Governor Makinde

The Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Akeem Owoade, publicly addressed rumors of a rift involving himself, Governor Seyi Makinde, and the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Ladoja. Speaking from his private residence in Boroboro, Oyo town, he insisted that there is no misunderstanding between them and described their relationship as cordial.

He mentioned that the governor's recent absence from state functions was due to being indisposed and reiterated that there is mutual respect among the traditional rulers. Oba Owoade dismissed claims of a strained relationship as unfounded and attributed them to online bloggers seeking to create discord.

He expressed appreciation for the media's support and highlighted ongoing development efforts, including the establishment of a land dispute committee and plans for a community health center. The Alaafin also announced preparations for his upcoming birthday on July 18, during which he will confer chieftaincy titles.
