ADC Denies Leadership Change Amid Ongoing Disputes

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has officially refuted claims circulating on social media regarding a change in its leadership, specifically denying reports that Senator David Mark would step aside as the national chairman. ADC spokesperson Bolaji Abdullahi described these reports as fabrications and misinformation, urging Nigerians to disregard them. The context of this denial comes amid ongoing leadership disputes within the party, which have been exacerbated by actions from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). Reports indicated that former party chairman Ralph Nwosu was steering the ADC towards its national convention to stabilize the party ahead of future elections. Additionally, INEC had removed ADC's name from the national working committee led by Mark, citing a court appeal order that instructed the party to maintain the status quo until a substantive suit is resolved in the Federal High Court in Abuja. Despite the challenges, Mark and the National Working Committee have rejected INEC's decision and are preparing for a national convention scheduled for April 14 in Abuja.
