African Artists Fail to Win at 2026 BET Awards

The 2026 BET Awards, held at the Peacock Theater and hosted by comedian Druski, saw notable African artists Tems, Burna Boy, Wizkid, and Tyla leave the event empty-handed. Tems performed during the ceremony and was nominated for Best Female R&B Pop Artist, while Burna Boy was nominated for Best Collaboration alongside Gunna, and Wizkid's group Asak was nominated for Best Group.

Tyla was also nominated for Video of the Year. Despite their presence and nominations across multiple major categories, no African artist won any awards during the night.

Cardi B was one of the standout winners, taking home the award for Best Female Hip Hop Artist, among others. The event marked a disappointing outcome for African artists, who competed in various categories but ultimately did not secure any wins.
