NOA Appeals to Traditional Rulers for Peaceful 2027 Elections

The National Orientation Agency (NOA) has appealed to traditional rulers in Yobe State to support efforts aimed at ensuring peaceful conduct during the 2027 general elections. This appeal was made on Tuesday during a sensitization campaign titled "Elections Without Bitterness," held at the palace of Emir Gudi, Alhaji Ismaila Kaji, in Gadaka, Fika Local Government Area.

Hajiya Maryam Shettima, the state director of NOA, highlighted the critical role traditional institutions play in promoting peace and stability within the electoral process. She urged members of the traditional council to prioritize national unity over political interests and to discourage actions that could undermine peaceful coexistence, such as political thuggery, desperation among political actors, and hate speech.

She called on traditional rulers to influence their communities positively and ensure credible, violence-free elections in 2027. Emir Gudi commended the NOA for choosing his palace for the sensitization program and acknowledged the Yobe State government's commitment to addressing electoral challenges.
