Odinkalu Critiques INEC Chairman's Credibility for 2027 Elections

Chidi Odinkalu, the former chairman of the National Human Rights Commission, expressed serious concerns regarding the credibility of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) under the leadership of Joash Amupitan. In an interview with Channels Television, Odinkalu stated that nobody can trust Amupitan to deliver credible elections in 2027, citing significant failures in the conduct of previous elections, particularly in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

He argued that the shortcomings of INEC are not merely due to legal constraints but also stem from poor electoral administration. Odinkalu warned that these issues raise doubts about the commission's preparedness for future polls, emphasizing the need for reform to restore public confidence in the electoral process.
