Nigeria's Beach Volleyball Team Qualifies for 2028 Olympics

Engineer Habu Gumel, President of the Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC), congratulated Nigeria’s beach volleyball team for their historic qualification for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games. The qualification was achieved by the duo of Esther Mbah and Pamela Bawa, marking a significant milestone for Nigerian sports, particularly in beach volleyball.

Gumel expressed pride in their determination and hard work, stating, “This is a remarkable achievement and a proud moment for Nigeria.” He credited President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his administration’s investment in sports, noting that this qualification reflects the President’s support for athletes. Gumel also recognized the contributions of the Chairman and Director General of the National Sports Commission, as well as the Comptroller General of the Nigeria Customs Service, CGC Adewale Adeniyi, MFR.

He acknowledged the President of the Nigeria Volleyball Federation, Engineer Musa Nimrod, for his role in this achievement. The qualification followed Nigeria's victory over Morocco, securing a gold medal at the 2026 African Beach Volleyball Championship in Alexandria, Egypt, on August 22.
