Wike Challenges Obi's Claims of Victory in Rivers State

Nyesom Wike, speaking on TVC’s Journalists Hangout programme, dismissed claims by Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi and the Obidient Movement that they won the 2023 presidential election in Rivers State, stating their victories were imaginary. Wike, who is the FCT Minister, emphasized that political victories are determined at polling units and declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), not on social media.

He criticized the notion of victory based on isolated polling units, highlighting that Rivers State has over 7,000 polling units. Wike also addressed the rejection of his Rainbow Coalition by Hope Uzodinma, chairman of the Progressives Governors’ Forum, arguing that Uzodinma's opposition is motivated by his ambition to become Senate President in 2027.

Wike expressed confidence that the upcoming 2027 elections would be his easiest yet, questioning what his rivals could present to the people of Rivers State that would be more beneficial than their current situation.
