Nollywood Actress Tope Osoba Dies at 40 from Cancer

Tope Osoba, a Nollywood actress, passed away at the age of 40 after a battle with breast cancer, as announced by fellow actress Foluke Daramola on Instagram. Daramola expressed her grief with the message, “She’s gone.

Tope is gone, my baby is gone.” In November 2024, Osoba had appealed for financial assistance following her first breast cancer surgery, which was part of her treatment plan that required a second procedure estimated to cost about ₦12 million. She expressed gratitude to those who contributed to her treatment and sought additional support.

Osoba had initially discovered a lump in her breast during a self-examination, but a doctor dismissed it due to her childbearing age. After insisting on further examinations, she was diagnosed with cancer, which she described as “one of the worst days of my life.” Osoba began her career as a professional dancer before transitioning to acting in the early 2000s, featuring in productions such as Gucci Girls (2012), Accident (2013), and Ifedolapo (2015).
