Kebbi Governor Nasir Idris Addresses Ethnic Clash After 16 Killed

Normalcy has returned to Kebbi communities following an ethnic clash that resulted in the deaths of 16 individuals, primarily involving members of the Fulani and Kambari communities. The violence forced many residents to flee to Bagudo town for safety.

The state Commissioner of Police, Umar Muhammad Hadejia, confirmed that six suspects were arrested in connection with the killings, with three held at the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) office in Kaoje and the other three in Birnin Kebbi. The conflict reportedly began after the alleged killing of two individuals, leading to retaliatory attacks in Lafagu.

A family member of the deceased district head claimed that attackers targeted Fulani residents, ultimately leading to the district head's abduction and murder. Governor Nasir Idris visited the affected communities on Monday, condemning the killings as barbaric and promising increased security.

Following his visit, many residents began returning to their homes, with reports indicating that the situation is stabilizing.
