NCDC Launches 20-Year Development Plan for North Central

The North Central Development Commission (NCDC) unveiled a comprehensive 20-year development plan during the NCDC Road Map and Stakeholders’ Development Summit held in Abuja. The plan, covering Benue, Kogi, Kwara, Nasarawa, Niger, Plateau States, and the Federal Capital Territory, is set to span from 2027 to 2046.

The communiqué was presented by Professor Muhammad Nuhu, Chairman of the Technical Sub-Committee, and adopted by 862 physical and 49 online participants, including government officials, traditional leaders, and civil society representatives. The summit emphasized the region's agricultural potential and called for state-specific agricultural and livestock value chains.

It also recommended infrastructure improvements, including integrated transport systems and security frameworks. NCDC Managing Director Dr Cyril Tsenyil described the summit as a pivotal moment for the region, while keynote speaker Professor Iyorwuese Hagher urged for the conversion of natural resources into shared prosperity.

The plan prioritizes security, human capital, and social inclusion, alongside a digital transformation program.
