PWI Raises Concerns Over Misrepresentation of NEDC Budget

The PWI clarified that the widely cited N246.77 billion budget figure does not solely cover salaries but also includes statutory provisions essential for the commission's operations.

The group highlighted that the personnel costs of the commission encompass various aspects beyond salaries, such as statutory allocations. The PWI emphasized that the misinterpretation of figures could lead to a skewed public discourse on the commission's budget.

Additionally, the group noted that the budget office of the Federal Government had previously clarified that certain figures were temporary placeholders during budget preparation. The PWI stressed the importance of public oversight to prevent misrepresentations that could undermine confidence in key development agencies like the NEDC.
