North-East Governors Warn of Looming Flood and Food Crisis

North-East Governors issued a warning about potential floods and food crises in the region. The caution was raised during the 12th meeting of the Governors Forum in Jalingo, Taraba State.

The Chairman of the Forum, the Governor of Borno State, highlighted credible climate forecasts indicating heavy flooding in the coming months. The governors urged the Federal Government and Development Commission to prioritize infrastructure reconstruction, particularly bridges and roads damaged by floods.

Concerns were also raised about escalating fertilizer costs impacting agricultural yields in the next farming season. Additionally, plans for a Trade Fair in Maiduguri in December 2025 were announced to boost regional trade and attract investments.
