Northeast Governors Launch Air Shuttle and CNG Stations

The Governors’ Forum convened for its 13th meeting in Maiduguri, Borno State, where they resolved to implement a regional air shuttle and expand Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) and Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) infrastructure across Adamawa, Bauchi, Borno, Gombe, Taraba, and Yobe states. This initiative aims to reduce transportation costs and facilitate the movement of people and goods, thereby strengthening regional connectivity and economic activities.
The communiqué, signed by Governor Babagana Umara Zulum, also noted a partnership with Green Ville Energy to establish more CNG and LNG stations. Additionally, the governors acknowledged the Federal Government's support through the North East Development Commission for the provision of 10,000 electric tricycles, 10 electric buses, and 300 electric taxis, which are set to launch in October.
The Forum emphasized the importance of improved transportation and logistics for regional economic development and urged the federal government to expedite the Mambila Hydropower Plant project.
