Northern Governors Back Tinubu's Call for State Police Amid Insecurity Crisis

The Northern States Governors Forum (NSGF) has expressed unanimous support for the creation of state police to address the escalating security crisis in Nigeria. The NSGF, led by Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe State, revealed that 19 northern governors have already adopted the proposal during a meeting in Kaduna.

This backing aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's commitment to establishing state police as part of broader security reforms. The move comes amidst increasing calls from various northern groups to address the rising insecurity in the region.

Additionally, six northern governors recently met with the President in Abuja to discuss the worsening violence across the country.
