Northern Governors to Launch Multibillion Naira Security Trust Fund Against Insecurity

The Northern Governors Forum in Nigeria has announced the establishment of a multibillion Naira Security Trust Fund to address the prevalent insecurity in the region. The fund will be sourced from monthly contributions of N1 billion from the 19 northern states and local governments.

Additionally, the forum recommended the suspension of mining activities for six months to conduct proper audits and curb illegal mining contributing to security challenges. The governors expressed solidarity with the federal government and traditional institutions in the fight against insecurity, particularly following recent attacks on schoolchildren in some northern states.
