Northern Governors Establish Regional Security Fund to Combat Insecurity

The Northern State Governor Forum (NSGF) has set up a regional security trust fund to address the escalating security crisis in northern Nigeria. States will contribute N1 billion monthly towards this fund and endorse the establishment of state police.

The forum expressed solidarity with states affected by recent attacks, commended efforts to secure abducted children, and pledged support for the fight against insurgency. Illegal mining was identified as a significant factor in the security crisis.

The NSGF aims to enhance security cooperation and stability in the region.
