South West Governors Launch New Security Fund and Advocate for State Police

The South West Governors Forum unveiled the South West Region Security Fund (SWSF) and expressed concerns over the increasing wave of violent crimes nationwide. Governors from Lagos, Ogun, Oyo, Osun, Ekiti, and Ondo states met to deliberate on critical security issues, emphasizing the need for tighter border control and improved data collection.

They also called for the establishment of state police and collaboration with the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) for proper identification. The forum highlighted the threat of illegal mining, demanding stricter enforcement actions and a comprehensive licensing framework to safeguard the region.
