Northern Senators Celebrate Ahmed Makarfi's 70th Birthday

On Saturday, the Northern Senators’ Forum, led by Chairman Senator Abdulaziz Musa Yar’ Adua, celebrated the 70th birthday of former Kaduna State Governor Ahmed Makarfi. In a statement, they recognized Makarfi as a "detribalised Nigerian" whose career has significantly impacted public service across Nigeria.

Makarfi began his professional journey as a classroom teacher and part-time lecturer at Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, from 1987 to 1993. He later served as Assistant General Manager at Nigeria Universal Bank and as Honorable Commissioner of Finance in Kaduna State.

Makarfi was elected Governor of Kaduna State from 1999 to 2007, where he provided leadership during challenging times and laid foundations for governance and development. He represented Kaduna North Senatorial District in the 6th and 7th Senate from 2007 to 2015, contributing to nation-building.

As National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, he played a crucial role in stabilizing the party during difficult periods. The Northern Senators’ Forum expressed their wishes for Makarfi's continued guidance, wisdom, strength, and good health.
