Kano University Disowns Emir Sanusi Carry-Over Video

Northwest University Kano (NWUK) released a statement on Tuesday, disassociating itself from a viral video that falsely claimed Emir of Kano, Alhaji Muhammadu Sanusi II, attended lectures to clear a carry-over. The university's Public Relations Officer, Abubakar Ibrahim, described the video as "false, baseless, and misleading." The video depicted the Emir attending a public lecture organized by the International Humanitarian Law Society at NWUK.

Following the video's circulation, some social media users falsely claimed that the Emir had a carry-over and sought to clear an alleged academic deficiency. The university's management categorically denied these claims, stating they were entirely unfounded and urged the university community and the public to disregard the video and related write-ups.

The statement also warned against the creation, publication, or circulation of what it termed false and defamatory content.
