Kano DG Defends Governor's Exit from NNPP, Cites Alignment with APC for State's Progress

Kabiru Dakata, the Director General of the Kano State Signage and Advertisement Agency, has defended Governor Abba Yusuf's departure from the New Nigeria People's Party (NNPP), stating that it was not driven by personal ambition but by the need to align with the All Progressives Congress (APC) to benefit Kano State. Dakata highlighted the importance of Kano State being in favor of the ruling party at the center to attract federal funds and interventions.

Governor Yusuf resigned from the NNPP and officially joined the APC on January 26, 2026, citing internal crises and the need to safeguard the people's interests. Dakata emphasized that several state projects had stalled due to insufficient funds from the federal government, which would improve with the state's alignment with the APC.

He also mentioned the completion of projects under previous governors like Ibrahim Shekarau, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, and Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, indicating the benefits of being in alignment with the federal government.
