Obi Prioritizes Vote Protection Ahead of 2027 Elections

Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), stated that his main concern ahead of the 2027 general election is not the election outcome but the ability of Nigerians to protect their votes. During a thank-you tour in Kogi East Senatorial District supporting NDC’s senatorial candidate Peter Ameh, Obi emphasized the importance of election credibility and urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and other stakeholders to conduct a free, fair, transparent, and credible election.

He warned against any manipulation of the electoral process and insisted that every vote must be counted. Obi called on Nigerians to actively protect the integrity of the election and choose leaders based on competence and commitment to national development.

He also advocated for an issue-based campaign, encouraging candidates to engage with citizens about their challenges rather than relying solely on political rallies. Obi, who previously contested the 2023 presidential election under the Labour Party, highlighted the need for leadership that can address the hardships faced by citizens.
