NOUN Matriculates 25,517 New Students, Urges Excellence

The National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) held its 30th matriculation ceremony on Wednesday, where 25,517 new students were officially admitted. Vice Chancellor Uduma Oji Uduma, in his first matriculation ceremony since assuming office, urged the fresh intakes to pursue excellence and reject mediocrity in their academic journeys.

He highlighted the need for access to education and encouraged students to take responsibility for their learning. The breakdown of the new admissions includes 19,149 undergraduates, 2,194 postgraduate diploma students, 4,107 master's degree candidates, 20 MPhil students, and 47 doctoral candidates.

The Faculty of Management Sciences had the highest enrollment with 7,519 students. Uduma reaffirmed the institution's commitment to delivering quality education without barriers and emphasized the importance of maximizing academic resources.

The registrar, Oladipo Ajayi, administered the matriculation oath via Zoom, advising students to comply with the institution's rules to avoid sanctions.
