NPA Launches Revamp of Eastern Ports to Boost Exports

The Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) has commenced the revamp of Eastern ports as part of a broader strategy to promote export expansion and diversify the nation's economy. This initiative aims to attract cargo traffic to the Eastern ports, thereby increasing revenue generation and creating employment opportunities.

The Managing Director of NPA, Abubakar Dantsoho, highlighted the critical role of Eastern ports as gateways for Nigeria's export trade, particularly for the southeastern region. During the 37th Enugu International Trade Fair, Dantsoho noted the vast opportunities for export expansion, especially in agro-allied products, and emphasized Enugu's strategic position as a commercial gateway to the southeastern hinterland.

He also mentioned that the NPA is investing in the rehabilitation of key Eastern ports, including Onne, Warri, and Calabar, to support the development of new deep seaports across the region.
