NPA Enhances Export Growth with Ports Automation

The Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) is targeting export growth by implementing ports automation and renewing infrastructure. Managing Director Mr.

Abubakar Dantsoho disclosed these strategies during the 37th Enugu International Trade Fair, emphasizing the importance of linking local producers, especially small and medium enterprises (SMEs), to global markets. Enugu is identified as a strategic gateway for the South East, with significant potential to drive export growth, particularly in agro-allied products.

The NPA plans to rehabilitate key eastern ports, including Onne, Warri, and Calabar, and support the development of new deep seaports in the region. Dantsoho highlighted the need to remove bottlenecks that hinder export competitiveness and mentioned the establishment of an export process terminal (EPT) to simplify procedures.

The NPA will also collaborate with the Nigerian Export Promotion Council (NEPC) to strengthen port hinterland connections and implement a National Single Window (NSW) system to enhance efficiency and transparency in export operations.
