NPA Mourns Former CEO Alhaji Bamanga Tukur's Death

Alhaji Bamanga Tukur, who served as the General Manager and Chief Executive of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) from 1975 to 1982, died on Saturday, September 12, 2026, at the age of 90. The NPA expressed its condolences through a statement from its Managing Director, Dr. Abubakar Dantsoho, which was signed by General Manager Corporate Affairs, Ikechukwu Onyemekara.

Dantsoho emphasized the authority's support for Tukur's family and the Nigerian public during this time of mourning. Tukur was recognized as a distinguished figure in Nigerian business and public life, leading the NPA during a crucial period for the country's port sector.

His tenure was marked by significant contributions to Nigeria's port infrastructure and trade operations. Tukur was also noted for his influence as an international businessman and statesman.

His passing elicited condolences from the global trade facilitation community. President Bola Tinubu referred to Tukur as a "towering figure" whose work impacted public administration, governance, and pan-African business leadership.
