Tributes Pour In as Bamanga Tukur is Laid to Rest

Alhaji Bamanga Tukur, the former national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), was buried in Yola, Adamawa State, on Sunday following his death at the age of 90 in Abuja. His burial was preceded by a Janazah prayer led by Islamic clerics and attended by numerous dignitaries, including former President Olusegun Obasanjo, Aliko Dangote, and Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa State.

Tukur, who was born on September 15, 1935, served as the governor of Old Gongola State in 1983, Minister of Commerce and Tourism, and Managing Director of the Nigeria Ports Authority. Fintiri led a state delegation to the burial and announced three work-free days in honor of Tukur, describing him as a father and mentor.

Obasanjo praised Tukur as a patriot and bridge-builder, while Dangote recognized him as a pioneer of private enterprise in Northern Nigeria. Other attendees included former Governor Muhammadu Bindow and various political candidates.
