Rangers Open NPFL Title Defense with Draw Against Katsina

Rangers commenced their title defense in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) with a 1-1 draw against Katsina United on the opening day of the season. Katsina United took the lead when Luis Dadong scored seven minutes before halftime.

However, Rangers equalized deep into stoppage time through Chibueze Oputa, ensuring they secured a point. In other matches, nine-time champions Enyimba faced a disappointing start, losing 2-1 to Niger Tornadoes at the Bako Kontagora Stadium in Minna.

Aliyu Goyi scored for Tornadoes, followed by a goal from Enyimba's Wonah Williams, but Michael Olalusi netted the decisive goal for Niger Tornadoes. Rivers United achieved a 2-0 victory over Plateau United, while Barau FC triumphed 3-1 against Nasarawa United.

Kwara United and Kano Pillars ended in a 2-2 draw, and Bendel Insurance came from behind to defeat Warri Wolves 2-1. Doma United also won 2-0 against Sporting Lagos.
