NFRA Urges NPFL Referees to Uphold Game Laws

The Nigeria Football Referees’ Association (NFRA) has called on referees officiating in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) to adhere strictly to the laws of the game as the 2026-27 season approaches. In a message from NFRA Acting President Sir Kelechi Mejuobi, he stressed that a correct understanding and application of the laws are essential for advancing the domestic league.

Mejuobi stated that with the introduction of a title sponsor, it is imperative for referees to officiate according to the laws of the game and comply with competition rules. He emphasized the importance of officiating without fear or favor, aligning actions with the 17 Laws of the Game.

Additionally, Mejuobi mentioned that referees and assessors have undergone training to fulfill the association's objectives and warned unauthorized individuals to refrain from accessing restricted areas, including referees' dressing rooms and tunnels, before, during, and after matches.
